Pay To Click sites. They have been around for quite some time now. And what are they? Their speaks for themselves. Simply put, you register on their site as a member. Click on the advertisements that you need to click at and earn some cash. Yes. Cash. I'm not kidding.

Although, I advise that you to be very very weary and wise. Why? Because there are tons of PTC sites out there that are just a load of rubbish.

So, how to we spot the legits from the fakes? The philosophy behind it is actually quite simple. If it's too good to be true, then it probably isn't.

Here are some of the

cyber crime security
The number of Internet users have exploded since Internet's public release way back in 1995. It's been fifteen years since then and the estimated amount of Internet users worldwide peaks up to 1.9 Billion people. Almost a third of the Earth's population. But there are very few who are armed with the knowledge on how to protect themselves from being victims of Cyber Crime.

So what does Cyber Crime mean? Cyber Crime are activities done using computers and the Internet. This includes anything from downloading illegal music files to stealing millions of dollars from online bank accounts. Cybercrime also includes non-monetary offenses, such as creating and distributing viruses on other computers or posting confidential business information on the Internet.

Here are some simple Do's and Don'ts to protect yourself from

Ever found something in your house or in your room that is still working and worth something but you simply don't need anymore? Got tired of seeing it at want to dispose of it? Hold your horses! That item may be worth something!

Several years ago, I was surfing the net looking for a site where I could easily sell or buy stuff here in the Philippines. Then I stumbled on AyosDito.ph. It somewhat like ebay but made very simple. Here are quick easy steps:

1. Go to AyosDito.ph.
2. Choose the region where you want to search or post an item.
3. Then you can either browse or type in the search bar.

It's that simple! And oh, did I mention that you don't need to register for an account to post an ad? And it's FREE! Yep, you've read it right, it's absolutely free, no strings attached. Once you post your ad, it will be reviewed by the admins for approval, once approved, your ad will be posted for 60 days.

Several days ago, I found a particular item that I really wanted to buy there, although I don't have the cash yet to do so. It's a PlayStation 3. Here's a screen shot of it:

You can find items ranging from cellphones for sale to apartments for rent. I even saw some items like bracelets and curlers to houses and mansions. It doesn't matter what you want to sell or buy, whether it be an item or a service, you can showcase it on AyosDito.ph!

The Philippines has seen the enormous boom in the Business Process Outsourcing industry for the past few years. For the year 2009 alone, profit in the industry has kicked to $7.5 billion.

I myself had experience in the BPO industry and I was able to somewhat see how the business grows. For our company alone, was able to extend 2 branches in as little as a year. This shows how many companies are in need of outsourcing services. The industry has put the Philippines as the 3rd largest BPO destination right after India and Canada.

Outsourcing to the Philippines has been a favorite for a lot of big companies like Microsoft, Symantec, McAfee, Paypal, and many more big names. Why? Because so far, these big companies find that the Outsourcing service provided in the Philippines are quite top notch.

On October 26-27, 2010, the International Outsourcing Summit will be held on Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila. The summit will feature address the core issues likely to determine the shape of the outsourcing our industry and its role as an integral partner in growing free-market economies.

For two days, executives of top global industry will debate the future of BPO as well as provide insights to the fast-emerging industry. Speakers range from BPO company CEOs to big names in the industry like Ernest Cu of Globe Telecoms and Jack Madrid of Yahoo! Philippines.

You can check out updated information for the event from their Search Profile Index as well as watch for updates and follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

Last year, I was looking for a new phone, preferably a smart touch phone with wi-fi, hi-res camera, HD video, good battery life and has a good online support just in case I encountered problems. I heard of an iPhone 4 upcoming launch here in the Philippines. But I could no longer wait. So I bought a regular smart touch phone. Oh, regrets.

Yes, I know, it's such a shame that I couldn't wait right? So what did I miss with the iPhone 4? Here they are:

The Glass. Oh yes, the all so important glass which encases the Apple's breakthrough technology. They have confidently announced that they used the same type of glass which helicopters and high-speed trains use for their windshield. And with today's environmental trend, the glass is also recyclable. Way to go Apple!

They've also boasted that iPhone 4's LCD display has the highest resolution for a phone screen yet. It's so crisp that the naked human eye won't be able to distinguish individual pixels. Fortunately I have 20-20 vision, so, I just checked as hard as I could if I could distinguish my smart touch phone's individual pixels, and, fortunately, I was able to see the tiny little pixels. Letting me know that what iPhone 4's LCD screen presents is astounding.

Next, the Stainless Steel Band they have claimed to have been created from their own alloy (yes, and unbelievably, Apple makes their own alloys!). This is the secret to the phone's impressive structural rigidity while keeping in mind how thin the iPhone 4 is. And yes, there's more, it also functions as the phone's antennas.

The Brain. The iPhone 4 has an astounding A4 chip designed by Apple engineers themselves. Even with it's power, it's still energy efficient. It helps with the phones ability to perform multi-tasking, video editing and placing FaceTime calls. Talk about two birds with one stone! Wait, thats more than two birds!

And let's not forget how good iPhones are with games. And guess what, they made it even better! The iPhone 4 includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. In short, it detects forward, sideward and upward motion as well as detect your acceleration! Now, how cool is that!

Two mics are better than one. Did you know that most phones have only one microphone? And you've guessed it! The iPhone 4 has two! The main mic which is for phone calls, voice commands and memos. The second mic on the other hand is built in the top, near the headphone jack. The purpose behind having a double microphone system is it helps surpress unwanted and
distracting bacground sounds, making every conversation a clear one.

The dynamic multi-touch. Most of the touch phones out there have what we call a "mono-touch". Which means that the phone has no software to comprehend or utilize multi touches at the same time on different locations. On the other hand, iPhone 4's multi-touch display is a very innovative software which allows you to control everything from pinch to zooms to two-finger taps.

Although only Globe has exclusive rights in the Philippines, so what? What I've seen here makes me quite envious. Wait, scratch that, not "quite" envious but VERY envious to anyone who have bought this beauty. And to mention that there are already a number of lucky users who have already availed of their very own iPhone 4!

So, what are you waiting for? Grab one! Don't let yourself regret not having one of these!

Being a real friend

Comments

friends
Everybody, if not almost all of us want friends right? So, what's the usual criteria? Usually, we look for friends who have the same interest, who respect who we are and who will not force their ideas on us. Someone to share a latte with. Someone to go to the arcades. That's generally speaking.

If we head to the specifics, this little blog post will start to look like a novel. I went on my old trusty buddy, Google and typed in, criteria of a friend. Funny and awkward at the same time right? Me Google on a criteria of a basic part of life? Funny indeed, but there is yet a plain explanation for this. We want to

wp pluginsIf you're new to blogging and have used WordPress as your primary blogging platform, good for you. If you moved from one blogging platform to WordPress, a better choice indeed. So, what's next? Submit posts and let it be? A friend of mine asked me what are the "more-widely" used plugins for WordPress.

Here's my top list:

1. All-in One SEO Pack
This plugin speaks for itself. It is primarily used for the your blog posts. It can be usually seen at the bottom of your Post edit page.
All in one SEO

Title
Make sure that when you input your blog post's title, you shouldn't exceed 60 characters. Why? Because most of the search engines use this maximum number of characters as title to searches.

Description
You can enter a short description of your article here. Acts more relatively like the WP post excerpt. Again, try not to exceed a character number of 160.

Keywords
They are your tags, categories for your blog article. Keywords are what search engines usually sniff out. On that note, you can unleash an unlimited amount of keywords. But make sure the keywords you use are relevant to

We've previously discussed individual topics on Search engine optimizations and Social Media Marketing. But, have we seen the latent potential
when we combine them?

The recent years has provided a boom in the social voting and networking sites. This not only includes Friendster, Facebook, and Twitter but as well as del.icio.us, Digg, Stumbleupon and Reddit. But hold your horses! These marketing strategies have the pros and cons as well.

Do note that if a social media campaign does not end up with a lot of external links which help with search engine rankings, the end result can be criticism. Complaints about social media marketing such as “none of the links point to the homepage”, “the traffic is worthless”, or “it’s just the flavor of the month” are tremendously overshadowed and cast aside by some new developments in the major search engines. So, how do you take advantage of all the pros of this marketing wonder?

If you must know, social media marketing apparently has a growing effect on search engine rankings through the use of social voting systems. Search engines also use them to determine which are quality sites and which are not.

Being a full time student, part-time blogger, part-time web developer, it's hard to juggle the very limited time I have. Although I see numerous opportunities on how to further hone my skills on those fields, I grab them. Once, opportunity presented itself as Seminar for Bloggers and would-be-bloggers alike. Sadly, I wasn't able to attend the said event due to the hectic schedule I have.

So, I was thinking, why on earth would they not make a webinar? Now, what's a webinar? A webinar is short for Web-based seminar, it is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar transmitted over the Internet. Fortunately, I found a Search Engine and Social Marketing webinar. The upcoming webinar boasts a Sales Tactics Using Search Engine and Social Media Marketing workshop. You can find more information about the workshop on the event's Search Profile Index.
Did you know that in the indexing world, Humans index sites they like faster than search engines' bot does? Well, now you know. That's the basic principle why social media voting sites are one of the basis search engines use for your site's credibility.

The growing link between blogging, social media promotion and search engine rankings is starting to get more imminent. This advancement is a true advantage to better our businesses.

How to - Speed Up your WordPress

As a new blogger, it's important to realize that not only Content and Design is important. There's a small thing some call Page Load time. Speaks for itself right?

Page Load time is the time it takes for users to fully load your site. No matter how good your content is or how beautifully designed your site is, it's equally important that users can see your site quickly. Some studies say that users who wait for atleast 5 seconds for a page to load is a huge turnoff. Even though they might visit your site, they might do so next time.

Allow me to share you a compiled number of tips on how to speed up your WordPress site.
Note: As what we have learned in our previous How-to articles, it's important that we make back ups of everything we are about to make changes with.

1. Cache-ing
What is Caching? Web caching specifically, simply put, is a process of saving web documents to save

Need to know your Blog's rating?

The last confirmed Google PR update was last April 2, 2010. And recently, Alexa also had problems with their site rankings, but thankfully that was fixed within a 10-day time. So, when is the next Google PR update happening? There were rumors that it happened last June, but what actually happened was minor cache glitch where some sites that had PR# went to PR0 and then later on came back to the original Google PR.

As I was surfing other blogs and sites, there were rumors that the next Google PR will be this mid-September. Again, these are only rumors. But, I, and probably all of us hope that it really will update on that said date.

Several weeks ago, when the Alexa rankings went crashing down, I tried to search for a site that gives an pretty accurate summary on your

Your Blog, Metas and SEO

I knew new bloggers out there, just like me who first ignored the META tags and descriptions of their blogs. Many of them ask, does it matter? The answer is yes, it does matter, a lot, especially in SEO.

Generally speaking, they are called meta elements. So what are meta elements? Meta elements provide a description for a given site, although these information cannot be seen directly by the site visitors. These meta elements determine your site or your blog's searchability.

Why would I like search engines to find my site? Simple. You probably want a site so that you'll have it found right? Think of search engines as an easy

Blogging and Social Networking

Most people think that the big names in Social Networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace are just for friendship and communication. It's way more than that.

Some of you might have noticed or might have not noticed that Social Networking sites play a big role in the promotion and commercialization of your blog or site. Reason behind it is:

 1.  Almost everyone who has a computer with an internet connection has either heard of it or is register to any of the social networking sites.

 2. It's a good way to grab readers. Here's an example:

When someone in Facebook happens to post a status like this: "My Facebook chat lags when I chat with multiple people. What's wrong with fb?" Well, if it so happens that you have an article that contains tips or tweeks on how

What if you could stop time?

I saw a movie where he was imagining what he would do if he could stop time. He was thinking that if he could stop time, he could draw the things around him usually ignored in great detail and appreciate it more.

What if you could stop time? What would you do? Here's something much better, what if you could stop time and roam around and adjust stuff? And with the snap of a finger, or with the crunch of your knuckles, we can restore the flow of time.

Hostaging - Is this your escape?

Early this morning, at about several minutes after 7am(+8:00 GMT), a Chinese tourist bus has been hijacked and was hostaged in Manila, Philippines. It was said that a rogue ex-Police Officer commandeered the bus. For the past few hours, local police were trying to solved the crisis.

Shot's had been fired. Bystanders were hurt. Rumors run around that that atleast 15 of the passengers were killed, which was reported by the bus driver who was able to escape the current situation. Although, authorities say that there was no way for them to confirm the information provided by the driver since almost all of the bus' curtains were let down.

The said assailant wants to clear his name due to the charges that were filed against him in 2008, which included extortion, robbery, grave threat and physical injuries. These charges resulted to the forfeiting of his retirement benefits as well as disqualification from government service.

Just several minutes ago, it has been confirmed that the assailant, Capt. Mendoza, has been killed. And 2 passengers were reported to have exited with the assistance of the local SWAT. Several bodies were being brought out from the bus, some of them confirmed to be lifeless which even included a child. This disaster is a big hurdle for the new administration. It is being assumed that most of the passengers are dead.

With the sudden end to this 12-hour crisis, the next questions arises: who is Capt. Rolando Mendoza was and what his reasons were behind this horrific scene.

Even with the heavy down pour of rain and thunder did not stop the flood of reporters and bystanders to know and see how this tragic drama ended.

Is hostaging an excuse to clear someone's name? If so, what was Capt. Mendoza's purpose? If you were in his situation, would you do something of this level to clear your name? Is this the path your willing to tread?

Difference of Wishing and Working

Comments

Sometimes we want something or someone so bad, that we even pray for them or it to arrive. They have a saying,
"If you wish hard enough, your wish just might come true"
I saw many movies and shows alike that says the same stuff. For me, it's like all talk and no work.
Let's put in this perspective. A student wants to pass his final exams but all he does is pray that he passes the exams. He doesn't review, take notes, he just believes and prays that he will pass it. So, will he pass the exam? I don't think so.

The point here is that we always think that wishing is already good enough. We forget that the best way to achieve what we are looking for can be obtain with our own power. Yes, it's difficult, but it's worth it. It's a process in life which

SEO - Google Insider Secrets

Whether you're a new blogger or a surfacing site owner, you might have wondered why most of the web guys are talking so much about SEO. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

Okay, so what is SEO? It's basically a process to  improve the visibility of your site or blog in search engines' search results. One of the leading search engines are Google, Yahoo! and MSN. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine.

You can also update your site's searchability by editing your site's meta tags. Meta tags are descriptions of your site which search engines look for. But also, make sure that the tags you are putting in are relevant to your site's niche, otherwise, search engines will ignore your site because irrelevance to content.

You may also use useful tags for your blog posts. This way, Search engines can easily search for your posts. Think about it as 'keywords' or 'key terms'.
The searchability of your site is very important since not everyone knows your site url. So what you have to do is promote your site thru commenting and other site promotion methods. Another sure fire way is to register your site to open directories. At the start of your blog's or site's life, always remember that you should register them in these Open Directories especially in Google and Yahoo. From there on, build up your site's Google PR and Alexa Rank reputation. Constant updates to your site also tells the search engines that your site is alive.

One of the best methods I can think of is to attend seminars or workshops to learn more. I heard an event in the Philippines about a Google Insider Secrets to Search Engine Optimization seminar which will be led by a former Google Optimization Specialist. Learning the secrets from the master themselves doesn't get any better!
Several of my friends and readers were wondering how to improve their site's availability in the web. An easy and effective way is to do commenting to do this is through commenting. Commenting is a good way to increase your backlinks.

What are backlinks? Backlinks are the links that you leave when you post comments to other sites. Your comment leaves a link so that user's can just click your username and it will lead them to your site. Here's what a basic

Digital Ripple: Lets IMMAP!

Internet and Mobile Marketing SummitWhether you are into marketing, advertising, management, or even  blogging, you need consumers. Consumers are defined differently depending on your niche. In marketing, advertising and management, it's basically the consumers who help produce profit. On the other hand, in blogging, your primary consumers are your frequent readers. These readers generate your traffic, and if your content is good enough, they'll even refer and recommend your blog to other readers as well.

Learning how to let your readers advocate your product can be acquired by anyone, although I could say that it would be a difficult task. What you do is go to a school and learn it which would take tons of money and time. You then resort in hiring a tutor, that again costs you time and money.
What's best to do is consult the pro's.

The masters. Enter, Jeremiah Owyang, the famed web, content & social media strategist started with a simple rule, focus on customer strategy. Jeremiah Owyang is a Partner focused on customer strategy at Altimeter Group and author of the popular blog Web Strategy, which focuses on how corporations connect with their customers using web technologies. According to Technorati, the Web Strategy blog is in the top 1% of all blogs, and has over 40,000 subscribed readers. Hailing from enterprise web management, a former Industry Analyst, Jeremiah consults and speaks on the topics of disruptive technologies for brand related customer strategies.

Internet and Mobile Marketing Summit
Jeremiah Owyang is only one among the numerous world-renowned names in marketing and online advertising speakers involved in the The Digital Ripple: 4th Internet and Mobile Marketing Summit which was made possible by IMMAP. Also one of the exhibitors for the event is Search Profile Index run by the 4th Media Internet Technology Corporation.

The summit focuses on digital ripples. It's is what any successful digital campaign could be. It is ‘viral’, ‘long-tail’, and a ‘breakthrough’. It is any campaign that spreads beyond your primary target market to become a part of pop culture. It's like the latest buzz on steroids. It not only motivates your consumers to buy products but also pushes others to do the same. The summit will discuss various topics that will help improve your marketing potential, you can also follow them in Facebook to access the most latest updates with regard to the event.

In the Philippines, where the online market is booming and still continues to grow, it's equally important that marketers, advertisers as well as bloggers to understand and develop how we can improve our influence in this consumer driven society. This not only includes the Internet but as well as mobile devices too.

What are you waiting for? Join and learn from the masters. See you there!

How to - HTML code on posts

When I started making 'How-to' blog posts, I've noticed that whenever I paste in an HTML code, it gets messed up. So, I tried taking a screen shot of the code and pasting it to the blog post. But later on, I figured that it takes too long to do that.
Here's an example what I'm trying to say. If you copy and paste this code to your blog post:
 so.addVariable("tcolor", "0x333333");
Sometimes, it would appear like this:
so.addVariable(&";tcolor&";, ";0x333333&";);
Thus, your reader's wouldn't be able to put in the correct code. Sometimes the HTML would simply appear on the way you don't want it to appear.
And yes, there is very simple solution. You'll just have to quote the HTML code. Here's how:
  1. On you blog's post editor, paste your HTML code:
  2. Then Select ALL of the HTML code:

    Alexa finally updated! Did yours?

Finally! Alexa has updated it's rankings! Here's a statement from their site:

This is a known issue, and we're resolving it. We're still tracking new traffic data, but there was a delay to the update in the graphs.

This is being fixed: yesterday, the Traffic Ranks were stuck on Aug 4, and they are currently on Aug 6, and moving forward.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.
I do hope this is permanently fixed. And by the way, my site's Alexa rank updated and thankfully, it rose(yey!), did your site's Alexa rank already update?

    How to - UNrestrict Bandwidth

The title text area is pretty short, so what I'm trying to say is how you could maximize the bandwidth of your internet connection for your pc or laptop.
By default, Microsoft reserves the 20% of your available bandwidth for it's own 'secret' purposes, speculations say that it's probably for updates or checking up on your machine, we never know. Anyways, here's how you could get it back:

    1. First, go to run and type: gpedit.msc

Is your Alexa rank not updating?

A lot have been wondering lately why the our Alexa ranks have barely flinched for this past few days. Tons of bloggers and site owners rely on Alexa rankings. Many advertisers also rely on a site's Alexa rank.
As I was searching the forums on the net, I found that this incident has already happened previously.
    Here's Alexa's explanation:
We're having a graphical display update issue, and are working on it. Our team should have

How to - Animated Tag Cloud

Some of you might have noticed some blogs that have animated revolving tag clouds just like this:

So, what do I need that for? It's a good way for your readers to search for your blog posts according to their respective categories. I think this also reduces your site's bounce rates.

You'll also learn how you could modify it's dimensions so that you could fit it in your sidebars. Again, since I'm a using blogger, I'll be telling you how you could this through your blogger account. So here we go!

    1. As all of the basics, login to your blogger account.

    2. Go to your 'Design' tab, then click on the 'Edit HTML' sub-tab. Just to be safe, backup your

    A change of pace

I've been posting a lot of tweeks and tips and for a change, I'll be posting a few poem now and then but not that much. The past few days were pretty hectic, and here's something I made to sort of "refresh" and reset my self.

    As I ponder and remember,
Times when we were at the shops together,
    Avidly dodging our peers,
    Laughing, joking and fumbling.
As we lounged near the movies,
    Munching on the chippies.
    I could clearly remember,
your smile which is hard to smear.

    We were supposed to bowl,
    supposed to play,
    but we went too early
    the lanes were still chained.

    Questions were thrown,
    Answers were given,
    But still,
A lot of things still seem unclear.

    As the hours quickly passed,
It was time for us to part.
    I must leave,
    You ought to stay.
    Your embrace was my souvenir.
    Your smile, a zephyr.

As we tread upon the aisle,
we paused and stood and stared,
wishing for the moment to last til the end.

    As the cab rolled,
    your tears flowed,
I had to be strong as not to weep,
my heart ached more than what I could take.

I truly regret making you shed tears,
    that I always ask Him
to erase that day from your memories.

Though it means that I'll be forgotten,
it's is an offering I am willing to burn.
Not knowing if I still deserve,
    to see you smile again.

I have previously discussed in my previous post the difference between Google PR and Alexa Rankings as well as it's importance in promoting and letting the web world about the existence of your site. For this post, I'll discuss how you could increase your visitors, followers and readers.

When I started my blog last July 1st, my Alexa ranking was about 25 million-ish. My Alexa ranking for the blog's first month(August 1st) soared to 3,466,553. So, how is there a magic trick? No, it's pure work. As one of the seasoned bloggers I knew told me that the secret to a blog's success is 'hard work'. Pretty vague, but it's all true, every single bit of it.

Here's my definition of hard work when it comes to blogging:

    1. Don't just post anything. Post something worth reading. Put your heart

    Rest - a necessity

Most of us(me included) forget a very important part of our lives. Rest. It can either be a brief pause to relax, a break, a short power nap, and the most common among us would be sleep.

Rest is not only a very important aspect of mental health but an important aspect to your physical health as well. Simply doing nothing allows your mind and body to relax. When an individual is in this state, he/she is free to meditate, recharge and appreciate the world around them that we usually ignore due to our hectic lives, or so we think.

    The Problem

It has been a common scene that people have to travel to and from work or school for an average an hour. And include this to the fact that working hours have increased as well as the time spent in school. This leaves the amount of time idle to a minimum.

The world has been a much busier place if you would compare it's

How to - make a blog

People have been using blogs since the early dawn of man, even before the time of the dinosaurs. Just kidding.

A blog is a portmanteau of the term web log. A blog may be a part of a website or be a website in itself. Blogs are maintained by individuals with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.

Most of the time, blogs provide news, information or simply a though that the author would like to share. Some are more personal and

It just comes once in a while. Sometimes it presents itself, sometimes you have to look for it.

Just like this month. August 2010 has 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays and 5 Tuesdays. This month's arrangement was said to just happen every 823 months. I'm not so sure since I don't have that much free time to count the number of days in a month. Let's just leave it to the pros.

    Opportunity is defined as:
    a possibility due to a favorable combination of circumstances;
